Spiritual Growth Through Daily Surrender: Lessons from Joshua 24:15

Choose God Daily – Joshua 24:15

Joshua 24:15 says, "Choose this day whom you will serve." The Lord revealed to me that this means choosing God daily—every day. Along with each day bringing new mercies, they also bring new trials, new frustrations, new issues, and new challenges. We must choose God over everything else—our anger, the desire to defend ourselves, and the temptation to operate in the flesh. This is why we must die to our flesh. We do this by choosing God—choosing His ways, His thoughts, and His will over our own.

What Would Jesus Do? (WWJD)

When I was younger, we had these bracelets with the acronym WWJD—What Would Jesus Do? This is the question we must ask ourselves in every situation. What would Jesus do? Now, granted, Jesus spoke up and said what He needed to say, but He always remembered the bigger picture and His divine assignment. Don’t forget your assignment. Don’t forget who you are. Don’t forget where you’re going.

The Daily Sacrifice of Choosing God

Choosing God is a daily sacrifice. Daily means every day, and daily means throughout the day. You are fighting against your own body and forcing it to bend to the will of God. Romans 8:7 says, “The mind of the flesh [with its sinful pursuits] is actively hostile to God. It does not submit itself to God’s law, since it cannot.” This means that you must defy your body’s natural instincts to follow the will of God.

Let the Word of God Be Your Guide

This is why it is important to know and understand scripture. What does the Word of God say about your situation? Let that be your guiding light as you strive to choose God every day, walking in faith and aligning your life with God’s will.

Trust the Process

I love you, and I want you to experience freedom in Christ. Whatever you’re facing, know it is for your good and His glory. Stay strong, keep the faith, and remember—you are being transformed through the mess. Peace and blessings.
