Hearing God's Voice in Prayer
The Lord has me on an interesting journey right now. One
morning in prayer, I was sitting quietly because I like to give room for God to
speak in our private time (something I encourage everyone to try). While
sitting there, I heard, “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalms 46:10).
What Does
"Be Still and Know That I Am God" Mean?
Later that morning, I searched for the meaning of Psalms
46:10. We often see “Be still” in the Bible and think that means sitting
quietly in one spot. While that may be true when talking to a child or a peer,
we must realize that this scripture goes beyond the surface.
Trusting God Beyond Our Own Understanding
What is God saying when He says to “Be still” in Scripture?
In Psalms 46:10 explained, God is saying to trust Him completely. This
means that we cannot trust ourselves, we cannot rely on our own logic or
thinking, and we cannot be dependent upon our own strength. In short, we cannot
lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).
Letting
Go and Letting God Work
If we are going to serve God, if we are going to live for
God, we must let Him be God. We have to take our hands off of the situation and
give it over to God. Total and complete surrender to God. Loosely translated, get
out of God’s way and let Him cook.
Surrendering
to God Brings Freedom
Is this easy? Not at all. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Is it
freeing? 100%. We are mere creations—finite, flawed beings that fall victim to
our emotions at any moment. We are limited. We have little to no control over
the outcomes of life. So why not hand everything over to the limitless Creator?
The One with all power and full control. Take the pressure off yourself and
trust God.
God Is
Our Refuge and Strength
Psalms 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very
present help in trouble.” That means in God, there is safety, protection, and
provision. Always.
A Call to
Trust God Completely
I want to challenge you from this day forward to release
control and let God be God. He is everything you need. When you feel fear and
doubt creeping in, remember to be still and know that He is God and that He
is your refuge and strength, always present in times of trouble.
Final
Words of Encouragement
Last thing: Always remember that I love you, and I want you FREE
IN CHRIST. Peace and blessings.
